Ingredients

  • 3 Medium Ripe Guava About 300 gm
  • 1/2 cup Refined Sugar
  • 1/2 Lime Juice Freshly squeezed
  • 1/8 tsp Milled black pepper About 2 pinch
  • 1 ½ cup Water

Instructions

Prepare the Guavas:

  • Start by peeling the guavas.

  • Cook the Guavas: Place the diced guavas in a large saucepan. Add water to the saucepan and simmer over low heat until the guavas turn soft and pulpy. This can take around 15-20 minutes.

  • Strain the Guavas: After cooking, strain the guava pieces to remove any remaining seeds.

  • Add Sugar: Once the guavas are soft, add the refined sugar to the pan. Stir well to combine with the guavas.
  • Introduce Chilies: Add the finely chopped hot red chilies and . Adjust the quantity of chilies based on your preferred spice level.

  • Blend the Guava: Once the guavas are soft and pulpy, use a blender or immersion blender to puree the guava mixture until smooth

  • Simmer and Stir: Continue to simmer the mixture over low heat, stirring frequently. The jam will start to thicken as it cooks.

  • Check Consistency: To check the consistency, place a small amount of the jam on a cold plate. If it thickens and wrinkles when you push it with your finger, it's ready.
  • Add Lemon Juice: Stir in the lemon juice, which will add a tangy kick to the jam and help preserve its color.

Storing Chilli Guava Jam

  • Cool and Store: Remove the jam from the heat and let it cool slightly. Pour it into sterilized glass jars while it's still warm. Seal the jars tightly.
